If you want to saw in softer materials such as plastic, you can set the speed to a maximum of 2000RPM so the plastic doesn't burn. To make sure you cut splinter-free on both the top and bottom, you can set the depth very precisely and can use the pre-zipper function. This makes a saw cut of about 2mm into the material which prevents splintering.
